A little bit Mouseketeer, a little bit Playboy bunny, she is as saccharine and slightly disturbing as a Gothic Lolita by day. On the flip side she likes to prowl kinky clubs and bars in the streets of the dimly lit Harajuku district by night for her unwitting victims. Even though Marilyn Monroe died nearly 60 years ago, she is still one of the most idolized stars in the world. Her ethereal, yet timeless, and seemingly impervious charisma is testament to her enduring popularity as an icon. This piece features Marilyn in the late 1940s, round the time she transitioned from model to bit player/starlet in her first Hollywood productions and had started to refine her well-known look to the one which we’re familiar with today.
