In the Worlds Unlimited narrative, the Olfers were nearly wiped out of existence but persisted with the goal of preventing the same fate for others. The Olfer clones are propagated for the sole purpose of building numbers in the Olfer military forces. Olfer generals and commanding officers are not clones, and have become experts in managing clone technology to leverage their fluid resources. As the large majority of their troops are commissioned on planets outside of their home planet, their goal as they traverse galaxies is not exploration or expansion of allied forces - it is currency. When the Olfer forces land on a previously unknown planet, they will offer their services of protection for a price. They are as cunning in the negotiation room as they are on the battlefields. Their rates increase over time, building planetary dependency on their presence, because once the Olfer clones arrive, there will be more species to follow.
