Roger Allan Cleaves received his Bachelors of Fine Art at the University of Memphis where he also participated in the Yale’s Summer painting program. At the University of Wisconsin- Madison Cleaves received his Master of Fine Arts. His studio practice is fueled by a cast of characters existing in a self-created multiverse called Forget Me Nots Land. This created world is a place where Cleaves explores methods of abstract figuration, symbolism, and a narrative about contemporary culture through the lens of Afrofuturism. Cleaves is represented by Bertrand Productions in Philadelphia and TW Fine Art in NY and West Palm Beach. His work has been featured in numerous publications such as Artmaze, Archive, and Manifest (INDA) International Drawing. His Noteworthy public collections include the Memphis International Airport and Freedom Prep Charter Academy. Cleaves work is a part of many private collection in the United States and international collections. His work has been viewed at several noteworthy fairs and museums such New York Art on Paper, Intersect Chicago, Trout Museum in Wisconsin, and the Dixon Museum in Memphis.
