Description
The focus is arguably the greatest face of 1960s fashion, the iconic model and actor Lesley Hornby (1949- ) known professionally as ‘Twiggy.’ However the subject is the culture of the second half of the 1960s, post the ‘Summer of Love’ and the impact that had on perception and attitude for many years on from that decade.
This period in popular culture represented freedom and modernity. Experimentation and innovation was apparent in everything from dabbling with mind-altering substances to new materials being used in design by creators such as Rudi Gernreich and Mary Quant.
This piece is inspired by psychedelia, stemming from the popularity of imagery representing the dabbling in LSD, Mescalin and Psychocibin and the effects seen in everything from Art, Fashion and music, to design and print publishing
