Description
I am going to the ancient city of Ephesus during one of my travels. The spirits that lived thousands of years ago surround me and offer me their gifts to bequeath them to the future and I photograph and color edit the aesthetics and magnificence of ancient times that have always fascinated me.
The library building, one of the most famous and magnificent buildings of Ephesus, was built in 117 AD for the senator Gaius Julius Celsus Plemaeanus by his son Galius Julius Aquila after his death. The tomb of Celsus is in the burial chamber under the ground floor of the building, and there is a statue of Athena above his tomb.
The statues adorning the façade of the Library of Celsus represent the Four Virtues:
Sofia (Wisdom),
Arete (Courage),
Episteme (Knowledge) and
Ennoia (Thought).
each edition represents a virtue:
edition 1 - Wisdom
edition 2 - Courage
edition 3 - Knowledge
edition 4 - Thought
This series of photographs undertakes the task of establishing a link between the past and the future. Each photo invites you to take a long look at this dazzling magnificence.
