Description

"Shattered," was the word one survivor of human trafficking used to describe how they felt. Victims feel a loss of identity, a sense of powerlessness and helplessness and a sense of deep loss as their hopes and dreams become distant. I worked with organizations that rescue survivors, and I use the powerful words of survivors to describe my art pieces dedicated to them. The image in this digital piece was done on procreate. It evokes the emotion of being shattered, the colors represent hope and joy for the future and the eyes tell it all. Lifeless, blank yet revealing the sorrow within. The eyes are both at once the eyes of victims and the eyes of the world looking on. It is time for us to take action. Report Human trafficking, help a survivor. 50% of profits from the sale of this piece will be sent to either “End slavery Cincinnati”, USA for their work in Ohio or to “Odanadi “a rescue home for victims in Mysore, India. (You can message me the organization of your choice. Both organizations work to end human trafficking and help survivors). Sex trafficking alone is a $150 billion-dollar global business with one motive money at the expense of the misery of the trafficked. Governments cannot address this issue alone and rely on the private sector and civil society organization to join forces and scale-up solutions.
