Description
I told myself as a child, I have an artist’s brain. It gave me comfort knowing it was true. It was obvious to me, my thoughts were vastly different from other people I encountered. Rather than creating awkward moments with my words, I became an observer which moved my art forward. Over the years I learned the physiology of my brain processes data differently than most. It also became clear I have lived with clinical depression all my life.
The marble is a simple and recognizable symbol that is a visual metaphor representing the different aspects and experiences of mental health. The goal of this series of work is to raise awareness, conversation and understanding of mental health through the use of light and darkness, color, and patterns to showcase the fluidity and many facets of mental health.
