Description

Uncovering the sugar-coated reality about modern slavery and how the property market and mortgage plays a major role in this. When producing the Cabaret Plastique series, Arda got inspired by the architectural visualizations that are being used for the marketing of new residences that we are all exposed to because of heavy urbanization. In these visuals, these properties are shown under a perfect light in perfect harmony with nature and the city that surrounds them and as something that we all should strive for. But, as we all know and experience, most of them are a part of the concrete jungle we all have to live in. Advertisements promise us secure and luxurious locations in which we can live together with people like us...in exchange for all our savings and lifelong credit installments. Each image in Cabaret Plastique series represents a room or a shared space within these buildings. In each room, in the kitchen of a nice house, at a poolside, in a posh home office or on a private beach, there are people who consume loads of pills and anti-depressants not being able to understand why they are unhappy and not enjoying their lives.
