Description
From an IRL painting, this piece started out on a large strip of canvas and evolved over a 2 month period. It remained laid out on a table in my studio. Once a day I would impulsively add a pattern or a color. This piece truly was in the moment, each day I came to it. I did not think about what it would be or not be, only looking at the newly added pattern in the moment then stepping away. I approached this painting the same way each day. It was winter and as I looked out the high studio window I noticed the winter trees. Without their leaves, I could see the hillside that is otherwise hidden in spring. The naked trees, their branches like exposed spider webs. I appreciate them allowing me to see that hill beyond, at least for now.
