Description
“Yellow Cow” is Noura Alangari’s vision of the continuation of a project begun by traditional Saudi artist Ahmed Mater.
Ahmed developed the original Yellow Cow as a series of interventions, performances and installations inspired by a passage in the Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow), the longest chapter in the Qur’an. So far, the project has expanded to englobe a film, a shop installation, a brand and a series of products.
In Noura’s vision, her AI-assisted piece redirects the project back to an almost literal perspective, showcasing a beautifully yellow and detailed cow looking the observer straight in the eyes from above. It is a statement piece that harvests the project’s underlying intent, acting as an umbrella under which all other perspectives are nurtured and welcomed.
For Ahmed, Yellow Cow is an ongoing project that inserts this ancient story into a contemporary consumer society. Noura has taken this goal to heart and created what she feels best corresponds to the latest developments in digital art, furthering the project into the magical world of AI-assisted art.
