The West : Ranch Gas

Description
Colorado 2018.
The relentless summer sun bakes the soil into an iron like surface and grass struggles to survive.
All materials are valuable and many items are repurposed by generations of ranchers. Over time the sun bleaches all buildings, even breaking their structure down as the landscape slowly reclaims everything.
Gas stations only exist on the main routes and so fuel is a precious commodity. Ranch tasks require hours spent travelling the dirt roads on the plains. Mountain lions, coyotes and rattlesnakes roam free so becoming immobile is a potentially deadly hazard.
The privately owned ranches are a disappearing feature of the historic West. This project set out to capture the lifestyle and traditions before they are eradicated forever.
