The West : White Horse

Colorado 2018. Don’t be fooled by the pretty face. Escapologist. We stood for a second open mouthed as he used his teeth to unravel his reigns and make a run for it. His young owner raced after him, chaps flapping and hat flying. He was cornered then gently brought back. He is the most valuable friend on the plateau. These working horses have years of experience, deep knowledge of the landscape and loyalty (in most cases!) to their two legged companions. The reassurance of a velvety nuzzle is a good start to the day. The privately owned ranches are a disappearing feature of the historic West.
