Lace in Blue

This photo tells about the beauty of the colorful iconic island of Burano, Venice ( Italy); in particular it tells us about the traditional art of lace. The camouflaged model denounces the problem of the progressive depopulation of these islands and the possible loss of this ancient tradition which is to be considered the heritage of humanity. The project tells the soul of the Venetian island of Burano and my paternal origins. By creating these photos, in several shooting days, I was able to learn more about the places where my ancestors grew up and make myself known by the current inhabitants. The houses become alive with bodies that for an instant cross their history, almost disappearing between the walls to witness the depopulation of the city, and at the same time highlighting their uniqueness and colorful beauty. Model is painted and photographed by me. I create photo, video and performance art since 2012 and I mention among my collective and personal exhibitions those at the VITRARIA Glass A + Museum in Venice, at the Casoria Contemporary Art Museum, at the MMKK Klagenfurt.
