Description
Humankind is a social species but too many people in one place rarely leads to anything good. More often than not, it brings out the bad in people. It may lead to exhaustion of resources, violence, and imbalance in general. I think there's a sweet spot where a society has just the right amount of people, sufficiently near from each other to feed the social desires in all of us, but sufficiently far (and low in numbers) not to break the balance we all need in our lives. We also need to be in touch and in balance with Nature.
I tried to depict all of this in this image. A small society, surrounded by a beautiful environment, far away from each other but also all interlinked. These links are symbolized by the bridges that connect all the cliffs to tunnels inside the rock. I imagined a central place of gathering, the tower in the center.
But in my images I also like to tell a story and give it a hint of mystery. This is mainly represented by the balloons. Are those balloons from the People of the Cliffs and part of their life, or are they visitors coming to disrupt the balance? That is for each one to interpret.
