Birth

This picture shows a mother helping her calf to breathe through the surface, while being escorted by a male. It was captured early in the morning, in Mo'orea, an island just in front of Tahiti, French Polynesia. What makes this image special to me is that they accepted my presence, when they could have easily left. Such a special moment, in a beautiful place. They stayed for about 30 minutes, and felt like a blessing. It's not common for wild animals to tolerate human presence in such a vulnerable moment. This picture is meant to emphasize the birthing act. In Spanish, "dar a luz" literally translates to "give to the light". That's exactly what I wish to make you feel, how the magic of life often goes unnoticed, hidden below the surface... This is your ticket in.
