Description
The 1990s was a formative time for this genre, just before the commercial boom of dance music in the 2000s and 2010s. As house and techno began to seep into the mainstream, the burgeoning popularity of dance music also saw new styles such as trance, drum and bass, and others finding their footing. .
"Generative music" is a term popularized by Brian Eno to describe music that is ever-different and changing, and that is created by a system.
In this work of mine, I used an algorithm to use the techno pieces, which were the top among all techno listeners between 1990-99. In total, 88 songs passed through the algorithm. The result was a generative song, which we can describe as an extraordinary cry and a clamor at the same time.
Later, I divided this song into pixels with a visualization algorithm. In other words, I both produced a generative music and visualized the music I produced.
Is music abstract? It is still more abstract when visualized.
