Enneatriacontagon

An enneatriacontagon is simply a 39-sided polygon. It looks almost like a circle, but when used as a framework its 39 sides create interesting overlaps and ripples. This piece uses a technique of my own devising called a "turtle morph"; a random hairball of 2300 line segments smoothly morphs into the edges of a rotating polygon creating surprising symmetries. I then unwind the hairs into a cloud of triangles which I superimpose to form an "aura". This morphing technique is highly sensitive: even slight changes to parameters produce wildly different effects. After hours of turning knobs at random I gasped when the enneatriacontagon first appeared. Even now it still seems mysterious to me.
