Description
Tiger Dance or Puli Kali as it is called in Kerala, is one of the most famous folk dance associated with the Onam festival. Men with large belly paint their body with faces of Tiger or Lion. The larger the belly better the painting works. They have to start this process very early in the morning and have to leave it for many hours to get dried up. By evening 5 pm, they wear masks of Tiger or Lion and march towards the city centre with their traditional dance steps along with the drums. The intensity of the dance increases as many groups meet together. It is a famous tourist event and many people around the world visit Kerala during this season.
