Description
Storms remind me that life is fleeting. All we truly have is this moment, right here and now. The past is gone and the future does not yet exist. I am reminded to be fully present, where I can hear the calling of my soul and take my next step with intent.
I stood in awe, watching this tornado move through time and space with powerful force. Winds approached 170 mph as it churned down the road in front of me. It took on many different forms as it moved slowly through the fields for over 30 minutes. And then suddenly, it began to fade from existence. The vortex narrowed, twisted and turned as it struggled to stay alive. Only moments after this photograph was taken, it vanished. It was gone forever.
This image is the last phase, the "roping out" stage of the most photogenic tornado I have witnessed in 20 years of chasing storms. This was a "lifer". The detail of the skinny vortex above and inside the outer sheath is something I have never seen before. A very rare capture.
