Tech vs Tradition

Patterns reminiscent of the intricate weaves of the centuries-old ancient handicraft textiles of Brunei ("Tenunan" in the local Malay language). Traditionally the knowledge of this craft has been passed down from generation to generation, and despite advances in technology, today it is still woven much the same way as it has been, by hand-operated looms, with patience, passion, and incredible craftsmanship. Here we have a single output, recreated randomly and entirely in code by an algorithm capable of generating thousands more in an instant. This piece explores the theme and tensions between technology and tradition. Where will technology serve us best?
